Pictured at right is Amy Jo McCollough with Certified Eye Bank Technician Pamela Joyce Jones prior to the delivery of Amy Jo's daughter, Molly. When 8 pound, 3 ounce Molly Jo McCollough arrived on July 26, 1999, Mrs. McCollough donated her placenta to the Indiana Lions Eye Bank. The amniotic membrane was dissected from the placenta, processed, preserved and quarantined until it was released for distribution in January 2000. Amniotic tissue is used for patients with corneal surface healing disorders, ulcerations, Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, limbal graft transplants and other complications involving the surface of the cornea. For more information on amniotic tissue and/or placenta donation please contact the Indiana Lions Eye Bank at 1-800-232-4384 or visit our website at www.ileb.org. |
